How to Register for Visitation at Ridgeland Corr Inst (online & paper options)

Starting June 1, 2025, adults 18 and older with a valid South Carolina driver's license can register online. If that's you, this is typically the fastest way to get on the approved visitor list. No South Carolina license? You can still apply - you'll just use the paper process instead (details below).

Have an out-of-state driver's license? SCDC accepts paper applications from you. This is common for family living nearby but across state lines. Plan on mailing your materials rather than using online registration.

Paper applications also work for adults without a driver's license. SCDC specifically mentions visitors using a passport or U.S. visa - stick with the paper process so your ID can be reviewed properly.

Even if you qualify for online registration, SCDC accepts paper applications if you're having technical issues or don't have computer access. Switching to paper is a legitimate option, not a workaround you need to apologize for.

All minor children must apply by paper. SCDC requires documentation verifying the child's relationship as an immediate family member, so include those documents with your application.

• ✓ Include copies of any supporting documents you’re relying on (for example, identification, and documentation used to verify a minor’s relationship).

• ✓ Keep a full copy of everything you mail for your records.
• ✓ Add a daytime phone number and email address so the Visitation office can reach you if something needs to be corrected.
