Scheduling an In-Person Visit at Ridgeland: Understanding the 15‑Hour Rule

SCDC requires you to schedule in-person visits at Ridgeland Correctional Institution at least 15 hours in advance through the GTL scheduler. What does that mean in practice? If you're trying to set up a visit for later today - or even first thing tomorrow morning - you may already be past the cutoff. Build in extra time so you're not scrambling, especially if you're traveling or coordinating with family.

1. Start in the GTL scheduler - Use the GTL scheduling system for Ridgeland in-person visits; plan your target time so it’s at least 15 hours out.
2. Select the in-person visit option - Make sure you’re scheduling an in-person visit (not a virtual visit), since the timing rules aren’t the same.
3. Enter your information carefully - Type your name the same way it appears on your photo ID, and double-check everything before you submit.
4. Choose an available date/time - Pick a time slot you can realistically make, then submit the request while you’re still outside the 15-hour window.
5. Save your confirmation details - Keep whatever confirmation the scheduler provides (screenshot, email, or reference info) so you can pull it up quickly if there’s a problem later.

Virtual and in-person visits run on different clocks. Virtual visits must be scheduled at least three days ahead, but no more than seven days out. In-person visits at Ridgeland work the opposite way - the window is much tighter on the "too late" side, requiring at least 15 hours' notice through the GTL scheduler. If you're switching between virtual and in-person, double-check you're following the right timeline before hitting submit.

Missed the 15-hour cutoff or need to fix something close to your visit time? Don't keep retrying the same slot hoping it'll go through. Reach out instead. Have this information ready: the incarcerated person's name and any identifying details, your name (matching your ID), the visit day and time you were trying to schedule, and what needs to change.
