Scheduling your first visit with someone at Riverbend: approval steps and hard deadlines
Your first visit is easier when you treat it as a simple timeline: get approved, request a time slot, and don't miss the deadlines for weekends and holidays.
Before you can schedule a visit at Riverbend, you need to be approved as a visitor. Start by filling out the Visitation Request Form and submitting it to the facility where your loved one is incarcerated. Until that form is on file and processed, you can't move forward with scheduling.
Once you're approved, request an actual visit time through the GDC visitation form/link. This is the "put me on the schedule" step - you're sending in a request for a specific slot rather than showing up and hoping there's space.
Weekend deadline: For weekend visits, your request has to be submitted by 5:00 PM on Wednesday of the same week.
State holiday deadline: For state holidays, the cutoff to request visitation is 5:00 PM, three days before each holiday.
Pay attention to the ID section when filling out the visitation request. There's an age rule: you must be 18 or older to select Driver's License or State ID as your ID type. If you're completing the request for someone under 18, entering this incorrectly can slow things down.
