How to Send a Food Package to Someone at Riverbend (Riverbend uses Access Securepak)
Riverbend is an exception to Georgia's standard food package program. While most Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) facilities use Union Supply for food packages, Riverbend Private Prison uses Access Securepak - and that's not changing anytime soon. This matters because the ordering instructions you'll find for Union Supply (including contact info) apply to State Prisons, Integrated Treatment Facilities (ITFs), and Probation Detention Centers in that program. They don't apply to Riverbend.
The standard GDC instructions mention ordering by mail through Union Supply. That address is: Union Supply, 2500 Regent Blvd Dept. 421, P.O. Box 619059, Dallas, TX 75261-9059. But remember - Riverbend uses Access Securepak. Don't send a Union Supply order unless you've confirmed it's the right vendor for your loved one's current facility.
Union Supply takes phone orders at 1-562-361-5719 (or toll-free at 1-855-247-0563). These numbers work for GDC locations that use Union Supply. Since Riverbend uses Access Securepak, think of these as statewide program contacts - not Riverbend-specific contacts.
Union Supply also accepts fax orders at 1-310-603-1188. This won't apply to Riverbend orders since the facility uses Access Securepak. It's included here so you can recognize the Union Supply process and avoid sending your order to the wrong place.
Deadlines are strict. Orders received after the cutoff won't be accepted - no exceptions. If you're close to a deadline, give yourself extra time so your order doesn't get rejected for arriving late.
Every order includes a $2.95 shipping and handling charge. That fee is non-refundable, so factor it into your budget.
- ✓ State Prisons and Integrated Treatment Facilities (ITFs): maximum $100 per offender or 15 lbs. per package (whichever limit is reached first)
- ✓ Probation Detention Centers (PDCs): maximum $50 per offender or 7 lbs. per package (whichever limit is reached first)
Placing multiple smaller orders won't help you get around the limits. All orders for the same person get combined into one package, and that combined package still can't exceed GDC maximums - the spending limit or the weight limit, whichever comes first. When you're shopping the catalog, plan your cart with those caps in mind. Otherwise, you might pay for items that can't be included once everything is consolidated.
- Confirm the vendor for Riverbend before you place an order - Riverbend Private Prison in Georgia will continue to use the Access Securepak package program until further notice, even though GDC also allows Union Supply orders for many State Prisons, ITFs, and Probation Detention Centers.
- Use the Riverbend-specific source first - check the Riverbend facility information where ordering instructions are posted so you’re following the Access Securepak process for that location.
- Use GDC program materials as a cross-check, not a shortcut - GDC’s food package program information includes Union Supply ordering methods for facilities using Union Supply, but Riverbend is called out as using Access Securepak.
- If you’re still unsure, pause before paying - verifying the vendor up front is the easiest way to avoid sending an order through the wrong program.
