How to Send Money to Someone at RJ Donovan: JPay, Money Orders, and MoneyGram Limits
Sending money to someone at RJ Donovan goes through JPay. The method you pick (card, money order, or cash) determines your deposit limits and processing.
JPay is the system you'll use to send money to an inmate at RJ Donovan. That applies whether you're paying with a card, mailing in money orders, or using a cash walk-in option connected to JPay.
Note: Keep your payment confirmation or receipt. If there's ever a problem tracking a deposit, that's what you'll need to resolve it.
Credit card deposits through JPay are capped at $300 per card every 72 hours. Once you hit that limit, you'll need to wait for the full 72-hour window to reset before using the same card again.
You can use more than one credit card, but the $300 per 72 hours limit applies to each card individually.
Mailing money orders through JPay? Each one is capped at $999.99. That limit is per money order, not the total amount you send.
- ✓ You can send multiple money orders at a time.
- ✓ Include the JPay money order deposit form with your money order(s).
- ✓ Mail the money order and deposit slip to: JPay, 717 Market Street, Ste. 423, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
- ✓ If you need help completing the deposit form, call JPay at 800-574-5729.
Cash or walk-in deposits through MoneyGram max out at $5,000 per transaction. If you're sending a large amount, confirm the limit at the counter before finalizing your payment.
Pennsylvania DOC doesn't set an overall cap on how much can go into an inmate's account at RJ Donovan. You still need to stay within the per-transaction limits for whichever method you use (card, money order, or MoneyGram).
- Get a bank check made payable to the inmate - this is the format used for estate funds.
- Reference the inmate’s ID on the check - include the ID so the funds are credited to the right person.
- Mail the bank check to the institution where the inmate is housed - address it so it reaches the correct facility for processing.
Once a JPay deposit posts, the inmate gets a receipt showing the funds came through. If you're worried the money didn't land, asking your loved one to check for that receipt is the quickest way to confirm it.
Inmates also get a monthly account statement listing all transactions. That's useful for confirming dates and amounts over time, especially if you're tracking multiple deposits.
