Bring valid picture identification with you - Robert Presley Detention Center requires a government-issued ID to visit an inmate. If you show up without it, you should expect to be turned away at check-in.
The dress code at Robert Presley Detention Center is strictly enforced. Violate it, and you won't get your visit. Keep things simple: wear appropriate clothing that covers your upper torso and lower/mid body. Nothing that signals gang affiliation, nothing with sexual or lewd images or text, and nothing that could be offensive to others.
Note: Dresses, skirts, pants, and shorts must not be more than two inches above the knee (including slits when standing). You might see a general rule elsewhere saying skirts must be mid-thigh length - ignore that and follow this Presley-specific rule instead.
Pack light. Leave anything questionable at home or in your car. The visiting area prohibits alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons, tear gas/O.C. dispensers, cameras, and knives. The lobby and visiting areas are no-smoking zones, and you can't bring food or drinks inside either.
You need to schedule your visit in advance. Call 951-341-8888 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to book. A few limits to know: due to physical distancing requirements, only two visitors per inmate are allowed, inmates can have a maximum of two visits per week, and each visit runs approximately 45 minutes. Coordinating with family? Decide ahead of time who the two visitors will be so you don't hit problems at check-in.
Parking near Robert Presley Detention Center is mostly metered street parking on the surrounding blocks. If meters are full, two public parking structures at the corner of Lemon and 12th Street offer a good backup.
Expect security screening at check-in. Visitors and their belongings may be searched, and you're subject to warrant checks and arrest. Once your visit starts, don't step out "just for a minute" - leaving the visitation area ends the visit.
