How to Send Mail to Rock Island County Jail After the July 1, 2024 Address Change
Starting July 1, 2024, Rock Island County switched to an electronic mail system through ViaPath/TextBehind. Paper mail no longer goes directly into the jail. Instead, letters and personal mail get scanned and delivered digitally to the person in custody via the facility's tablet system. The scanning process helps reduce contraband, including drugs that can be absorbed into or applied to paper.
For personal mail that will be scanned (letters, cards, photos, and drawings), address your envelope exactly like this: Detainee Name & ID Number Rock Island County Jail, IL PO Box 76550 Highland Heights, KY 41076 Include the full facility name with the state (Rock Island County Jail, IL), plus the detainee's full name and ID number. Missing details can delay processing or prevent delivery.

Cost: For family and friends, the only cost to use this scanned mail service is a U.S. postage stamp.

Only letters and direct written communication can be scanned. Packages, boxes, and catalogs sent to the scanned-mail P.O. Box will be returned to you.
Money orders should not go through the scanned mail system. Mail them directly to Rock Island County Jail at 1317 Third Avenue, Rock Island, IL 61201. Legal mail also bypasses the scanned system.
