How to Address Mail & Money Orders to an Inmate at Rowan County Detention Center (Including Annex Routing)
A small mistake on your envelope can bounce mail back or delay funds. Follow these steps to get the addressing right the first time.
Write the inmate's full name and ID number on the front of every envelope. The ID number is required - it's how staff match your mail to the right person.
Reminder: The ID number matters for money too. Include it on money orders so funds post to the correct account.
Always include a physical street address as your return address. A PO Box alone won't work - mail without a valid return address gets sent back.
Skip the sticker labels. Your return name and address must be handwritten or typed directly onto the envelope.
Sending money? Use a money order with the inmate's name and ID number on it. The ID is required - without it, there's no guarantee the funds reach the right account.
You've got other options too. Deposit money online, or use the kiosk in the lobby at either the main jail or the annex.
Even if your inmate is at the Annex on Grace Church Road, send mail to the main Rowan County Detention Center. All Annex mail gets routed through the main facility.
