How to Share or Request Medical Information About an Inmate at St. Lucie County Jail

If you need to share medical information about someone housed at St. Lucie County Jail - like a health condition, current medications, or a medical concern - call the medical information line at 772-672-8582 and leave a message.

Calls are reviewed and returned within 48 hours, Monday through Friday. If you're waiting on a callback, expect it during the workweek.

Note: This line is for medical information only. Nursing staff won't relay personal messages to inmates. For anything else, call the jail's switchboard at 772-462-3450.

Want to get medical information about an inmate's condition? The jail requires an active Release of Information (ROI) form on file. Without that written authorization, medical staff can't share health details with you.

Heads up: If there isn’t an ROI on file for you, you must ask the inmate to complete one. Nursing staff can’t ask the inmate to fill out an ROI on your behalf.

  1. Confirm you have an active ROI - your name must be listed on the inmate’s Release of Information form.
  2. Go to the jail in person - records are provided at 900 N. Rock Road, Fort Pierce.
  3. Bring valid photo ID - present a valid driver’s license or other acceptable state identification.
  4. Make sure the name matches - the ID must verify you are the person listed on the inmate’s ROI form before health information will be released.

Inmates at St. Lucie County Jail have the right to medical care at no cost. Free services include intake screenings, medical histories and physicals, chronic illness care, follow-up appointments, mental health services, medical emergencies, and treatment for referred illnesses.

Privacy reminder: HIPAA prevents medical personnel from sharing an inmate's health information without written consent. A contracted health care company provides inmate medical services - as of March 1, 2024, the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) manages that contract.
