Setting Up Your Securus Account Before Salinas Valley's April Tablet Switch
Salinas Valley State Prison is switching tablet-based communication to Securus in April. Want video calls and electronic messages to keep working without interruption? Set up your Securus account now—before the transition.
The tablet transition at Salinas Valley State Prison is scheduled for April 14–17 (dates are tentative). After the switch, families will need Securus - not ViaPath - for tablet services like video calls and messaging. Getting your account set up early gives you breathing room. You won't be scrambling during the changeover when you're trying to catch an important call or get messaging working right away.
Timing reminder: SVSP’s telephone transition date is listed as April 13, and the tablet transition is listed as April 14–17 (tentative). Caller ID will change when institutions transition.
Open your Securus account now so you're ready for video calls and messaging once SVSP transitions. You can sign up on the Securus website or through their mobile app - whichever works better for you.

- ✓ Complete any account verification prompts so your account is ready to use

Securus Video Connect is web-based, so you can schedule and join video sessions from anywhere with internet. Use the free Securus app, a computer, or a tablet - you're not locked into one device or location.

- Choose how you’ll join visits - use the free Securus app, or plan to use a computer or tablet with internet access.
- Schedule and join through Video Connect - once SVSP is on Securus, you’ll use Video Connect to set up video sessions and participate at the scheduled time.

- ✓ If you plan to use your phone or tablet, download the free Securus app ahead of time
- ✓ If you expect to use paid video calling options, add funds in your Securus account in advance so you’re not trying to do it during the switch
