Scheduling Your First In-Person Visit at Sampson Correctional: What to Expect
Your first in-person visit goes smoother when you know the basics: visits are appointment-only, you'll pass through a metal detector, and there are firm rules about what to wear and bring.
In-person visits at Sampson Correctional (NCDAC) are appointment-only. Call or email the prison where your loved one is housed to schedule a time before you show up.
Once you've scheduled, add one more step: call the prison the day before to confirm visitation is still on. That quick call can save you a wasted trip if something changes.
NCDAC facilities offer both in-person and video visits. Planning to visit by video? You'll need to be on the incarcerated person's approved visitors list first.
When you arrive, expect a security screening. Everyone passes through a metal detector before going any further.

- ✓ Cameras
- ✓ Recording devices
- ✓ Smart/AI glasses
Keep your outfit simple. Shirts and shoes are required for all visitors - no exceptions, so wear both from the start.
Under normal circumstances, your loved one can have one visiting session per week. Each session lasts up to two hours, so plan your travel around that window.
Group size is limited too - up to three approved visitors per session.
Note: The warden can adjust visiting times, frequency, duration, and visitor limits based on security or operational needs.
