What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) When Visiting Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility

You can only bring two things inside Las Colinas: a valid photo ID and your car keys. Nothing else is allowed. Leave everything else locked in your car before you walk in - it'll save you from delays at check-in.

Prohibited Items

  • Purses or bags
  • Diapers
  • Diaper bags
  • Toys
  • Food or beverages
  • Pets
  • Firearms
  • Knives or other weapons
  • Drugs or alcohol
  • Cigarettes

If you're 18 or older, bring a valid ID - staff will check it before letting you through. Make sure it's current; expired IDs won't work.

In-person social visits at Las Colinas are 30 minutes. That's not much time, so arrive ready to go - ID and keys only - instead of spending precious minutes sorting out prohibited items.

Video visits are available seven days a week, and each session is 30 minutes. One thing to know: the person you're visiting is limited to two 30-minute video visits per week. Coordinate ahead so you don't accidentally use up a slot.
