What ID Do You Need to Visit Someone at San Joaquin Jail?
You'll need a current, valid photo ID to visit someone at San Joaquin Jail. No acceptable photo ID? Your visit will be denied at check-in.
Accepted IDs
- ✓ Driver’s license from any state
- ✓ Identification card from any state
- ✓ Military ID card
- ✓ Immigration & Naturalization card
- ✓ Permanent Resident ID with photo
- ✓ Mexico Matricula Consular ID card
- ✓ Passport or Official Foreign ID
San Joaquin Jail accepts driver's licenses and state ID cards from any state. Don't have one of those? A passport or official foreign ID can also work, as long as it qualifies as an accepted photo ID.
A temporary (paper) driver license won't be accepted on its own. You can only use it if you also bring the corresponding expired or invalid photo license, or another acceptable form of photo ID. Temporary state ID cards are not allowed at all.
- Bring the original temporary paper license: It must be the hard copy you were issued.
- Bring your matching photo ID too: Bring the corresponding expired or invalid driver license with photo, or another acceptable photo ID.
Show up without a current, valid photo ID that San Joaquin Jail accepts, and you won't be allowed to visit. There are no exceptions.
Not sure if your ID will be accepted? Call the inmate visiting line for your facility: Jail Core (209) 468-4295, South Jail (209) 468-4676, or Honor Farm (209) 468-4384.
Practical Tips
- ✓ Bring a current, valid driver’s license or state ID (from any state)
- ✓ If you have one, bring a passport or official foreign ID as a backup
- ✓ If you only have a temporary (paper) driver license, keep it with your expired/invalid photo license or another acceptable photo ID
- ✓ Keep your ID easy to grab at check-in so you are not digging for it at the window
