How to Schedule Your First Visit at Maguire Correctional Facility
Maguire Correctional Facility uses a phone sign-up system for in-person visits. Know the call-in window, have your ID details ready, and show up on time. That's how you avoid losing your visit.

Were you recently in custody? If you were released from San Mateo County custody within the previous six months, you're not allowed to visit until six months after your release date. The exception: getting prior approval from the Watch Commander or the Watch Commander's designee.
If you have a prior felony conviction, plan ahead. You'll need approval from the Watch Commander or the Watch Commander's designee before any visit is permitted.
All in-facility visits at Maguire must be reserved by phone. Call (650) 599-3000 and select the Maguire Correctional Facility visitation prompt.
- Pick the day you want to visit. Maguire allows you to reserve a timeslot by phone a maximum of one day in advance.
- Call within that one-day window. If you call earlier than that, you may be told to call back closer to the day you want to come in.
- Have everyone’s current, valid government photo ID in front of you. The reservation is based on the information on the ID.
- Provide the ID details for each visitor. When you reserve a timeslot, you must give the information contained on your current/valid government-issued photo identification, and the same information for anyone accompanying you.
- Use the same ID on visit day. Bring that current/valid government photo ID to check in.
What to Have Ready
- ✓ Current/valid government-issued photo ID for every adult who plans to visit (you will be asked for the information on each ID when you reserve)
- ✓ Examples of acceptable ID: U.S. Driver’s License, U.S. Identification Card, U.S. Immigration Identification, Military Identification, valid passport
- ✓ The exact names and ID details as they appear on each visitor’s ID (have everyone’s ID present when you call)
On the day of your visit, timing matters. Check in no earlier than 45 minutes before your scheduled start time, and no later than 15 minutes before it.
Arrive after your scheduled start time and your visit gets cancelled. The silver lining: you can reschedule for the next available slot on the same day, if one is open.
Each incarcerated person is allowed two 45-minute in-person visits per seven-day period, with no more than one visit in a day. Plan accordingly.
Keep your group small. No more than three visitors are allowed per in-facility visit.
