How to Visit Facility
Visiting at Maguire Correctional Facility is pretty straightforward once you know the limits, how to reserve a time, and when to show up for check-in.
Maguire Correctional Facility does not schedule public visiting on Mondays, so plan around that. Each incarcerated person is allowed two 45-minute in-person visits per seven-day period, with no more than one visit in a single day. Group size matters too: a maximum of three visitors are allowed per in-facility visit.
Your timing at the door can make or break the visit. Check in at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time, but no more than 45 minutes before. Show up after the scheduled start? The visit gets cancelled. You can reschedule for the next available slot that same day, but that's not guaranteed. Bring a current, valid government-issued photo ID. The name and information on your ID has to match what was provided when you signed up, and every visitor in your group needs to do the same.
Reminder: Leave cell phones, smart watches, and other electronics out of the visitation area. Gum, beverages, and food are also prohibited. Free lockers are available for small items.
- Reserve a timeslot by phone - Call (650) 599-3000 and select the Maguire Correctional Facility visitation prompt. You can sign up a maximum of 1 day in advance to reserve your time.
- Have your ID details ready when you call - You will be asked for the information on your current, valid government-issued photo ID and the ID information for anyone coming with you.
- Arrive in the check-in window - Check in no less than 15 minutes and no more than 45 minutes before your scheduled visit time.
- Show matching, current government-issued photo ID - Bring current, valid government-issued photo identification for yourself, and make sure the information matches what was provided for all accompanying visitors.
- Avoid a late cancellation - If you arrive after the visit start time, you will be marked late, your visit will be cancelled, and you may reschedule for the next available visit time on the same day.
