Include the inmate's full name in the address block, formatted like this: Santa Rosa County Jail C/O INMATE FULL NAME 5755 E. Milton Road Milton, FL 32583

Size limit: Letters can be no larger than a standard sheet of paper (8.5" x 11").

Your letter won't be handed to your loved one directly. Since 4/12/2021, all incoming personal mail is scanned electronically and delivered to inmates through the in-dorm GTL tablets. The physical letter is destroyed after scanning.

Scanned mail gets delivered Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. If you send something late in the week or near a holiday, expect a delay before it shows up on the tablet.

Legal mail follows a different process. Letters from attorneys are opened only with the inmate present. Since 11/21/2022, staff open privileged mail in front of the inmate, copy all pages onto colored paper, and hand over the copies. Once the inmate confirms everything is there and readable, the original is destroyed while they watch.

Note: All incoming mail is still opened and searched for security threats and contraband, with legal mail opened only while the inmate is present.
