Bringing a Child to Visit at Sarpy County: Documents, Who Can Accompany, and On‑Site Only Rule

Minors (anyone under 18) can only visit in person at Sarpy County Jail. There's no remote option for children, so plan for an on-site visit.

For on-site visits, enter through the SCC Reception entrance. If you're bringing a child, come prepared to handle check-in efficiently - it keeps things moving and makes the visit easier for everyone.

Children need their original birth certificate with a raised seal. Copies won't work - it has to be the official document.

Visiting as a legal guardian? You'll need proof. Either your name appears on the child's birth certificate, or you bring current legal documentation establishing guardianship.

Reminder: Before your first scheduled visit, you must create a Securus online account at least 24 business hours ahead of time and upload a valid government photo ID.

The jail limits visits to two visitors at a time, but minors get special consideration. This exception means a child can still join even when two adults are already visiting.

There's still an overall cap: no more than five visitors per visiting period, even with the minor exception. If several family members want to come, decide ahead of time who's attending.

Only seven visits happen each hour, and spots fill on a first-come, first-served basis. With kids, that's extra reason to plan early - waiting around is tough, and availability goes fast.

  1. Register in advance (when you can) - Visitors should register before arriving at the SCC unless they’re unable to do so.
  2. Arrive with enough lead time to enter - Be prepared to enter the visitation room 30 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled visitation time.
  • Don’t bring items into visitation (including writing instruments, paper, electronic devices like cell phones or games, purses, photographs, weapons, briefcases, etc.)
  • Secure all personal property in a locker or leave it in your vehicle before entering visitation

Bring the right paperwork: Minors need an original birth certificate with a raised seal. Legal guardians must have their name on the birth certificate or bring current guardianship documentation. Your Securus account and uploaded government photo ID must be set up at least 24 business hours before your first scheduled visit.
