How Attorneys and Other Professional Visitors Schedule and Join Video Visits at PA DOC

As an attorney or professional visitor, you won't schedule a video visit yourself. Instead, the facility's Superintendent's Assistant handles setup on your behalf. For your first video visit, the Superintendent's Assistant adds you to the Inmate Visitation System (IVS). That's why the process starts with a phone call rather than a self-scheduled appointment.

Call the SCI where the inmate is housed and ask for the Superintendent's Assistant. If they're unavailable, leave a message. They will return your call.

Once you connect, the Superintendent's Assistant will coordinate a date and time with you. After the visit is scheduled, you'll receive an automated confirmation email at the address you provided. That email includes a connection guide and the link you'll use to join.

Watch for the automated confirmation email after scheduling. It contains both the connection guide and your visit link, so keep it somewhere easy to find on the day of your appointment.

1. Call the Superintendent’s Assistant to cancel as far in advance as possible.
2. Have the visit canceled in IVS (the Superintendent’s Assistant cancels the scheduled visit in the Inmate Visitation System).
3. Look for the automated cancellation email confirming the cancellation was processed.

Click the video visit URL from your confirmation email. That link opens Zoom, where you'll select "Launch Meeting" to enter the visit. The Meeting ID populates automatically, but you'll still need to enter your name or email address before you can proceed.
