Sci Muncy, Pa

All visits at SCI Muncy must be scheduled through the PA Inmate Visitation System (IVS). You'll need an IVS account and must be on the inmate's authorized visitor list before booking. Schedule anywhere from 3 to 60 days ahead of your visit. Need to cancel? Do it as early as possible—at least 3 days before. If the facility cancels on you, IVS sends an email to your account. Contact visits run at least one hour and allow up to four authorized visitors. Video visits are 45 minutes with up to six visitors. You're limited to four in-person visits per month, including one weekend visit. Dress code is strict: no coats, jackets, or hoodies (sweaters are fine). Skip see-through or revealing clothing, and leave metal-containing bras and metal hair accessories or jewelry at home.

SCI Muncy uses the Pennsylvania DOC's Zoom-based video visiting system (effective Dec. 15, 2021). Regular video visits are recorded and monitored—attorney visits are not. All inmates can receive free video visits: up to six per month, including one weekend visit. Each session runs 45 minutes, and up to six visitors can join. In-person contact visits work differently: up to four authorized visitors, with visits lasting at least one hour. To get started, create an account through the approved vendor portal or app, request the visit, and schedule your time. You can join up to five minutes before your session starts.

SCI Muncy routes general incoming mail through Smart Communications, the PA DOC's contracted processor, using the St. Petersburg P.O. Box. Your mail gets scanned and forwarded electronically to the facility. Include a full return address plus the inmate's full correct name and number. Use 8.5×11 paper and don't bind items like a book. Photos are allowed—up to 25 per mailing—but nothing with obscenity or nudity. Originals can't be returned and are destroyed after 45 days. Books and magazines go to the DOC Security Processing Center (SPC) in Bellefonte with the inmate's name and number. Photo books must be soft cover, from a third-party vendor, no more than 25 pages (excluding cover), and no larger than 8×11 inches. Official documents and IDs? Mail those directly to the institution, marked for the Business Office.

SCI Muncy accepts deposits through JPay (online, by phone, or mailed money order). Some state prisons also have lobby kiosks for in-person deposits. The Pennsylvania DOC recommends using JPay and warns against sending money through other people, third-party websites, or email accounts. Know the limits: credit card deposits cap at $300 per card every 72 hours, money orders at $999.99 each, and MoneyGram/walk-in cash at $5,000 per transaction. Include the inmate's full name and facility/booking ID so funds post to the right account. Deposited money can be used for commissary, phone/tablet services, and related charges.
