Before Your First Video Visit at SCI Muncy: How to Join on Time Using Zoom

PA DOC video visits through the Inmate Visitation System (IVS) run on Zoom. When your scheduled visit at SCI Muncy arrives, the IVS visit link will open a Zoom meeting.

You can join up to 5 minutes before your scheduled start time. Try to connect earlier and the system may block you. Aim for that 5-minute window so you're ready the moment the visit opens.

Device Checklist

• ✓ Internet access that is stable enough for a video call
• ✓ A device with a camera and microphone (so you can both see and speak)
• ✓ Access to the email and/or IVS account where your video visit URL is listed, so you can open the link and enter your name or email when prompted

1. Check the right email inbox - IVS sends automatic email notifications for account or visit status changes, so use the email address linked to your IVS account and check it regularly.
2. Make sure your device can launch the meeting - when you click the visit URL, it will take you to Zoom where you select “Launch Meeting.” Be ready to allow camera and microphone access if your device asks.
3. Plan to type your info - the Meeting ID will auto-populate after you select “Launch Meeting,” but you still need to enter your name or email address to join.

1. Find your visit URL - open the automated confirmation email from when the visit was scheduled, or log into your IVS visitor account and look under your upcoming visits.
2. Click the URL - it will direct you to Zoom.
3. Select “Launch Meeting” - this is the button you use to enter the visit.
4. Confirm the Meeting ID appears - the Meeting ID will automatically populate.
5. Enter your name or email - Zoom will prompt you for this even though the Meeting ID fills in automatically.
6. Keep an eye on IVS emails - you will receive automatic notifications for account or visit status changes, so check the email tied to your IVS account for updates.

PA DOC video visits are monitored and recorded (except visits with legal counsel). Recording on your end is also prohibited. Do not record, upload, share, or distribute any part of the video visit.

1. Try the link again - close out and re-open the visit URL from your IVS confirmation email or from your IVS account.
2. Check your IVS email for updates - IVS sends automatic email notifications for account or visit status changes, so look for any message that could affect your visit.
3. End the call cleanly - when the visit is over, hang up right away so the system can move to the next scheduled visit.
