How to Send Money to an Inmate at SCI Retreat (JPay: online, phone, money order, or lobby kiosk)

JPay handles all deposits at SCI Retreat, and you've got four ways to send money: You can deposit on the JPay website, call JPay at 800-574-5729, mail a money order to JPay, or use a lobby kiosk at the prison. Online and phone deposits are the fastest if you want to handle things right away. Money orders work well if you prefer paying by mail. And if you're already at SCI Retreat for a visit, the lobby kiosk lets you make a deposit in person.

Sending a money order? Don't mail it to the prison. Pennsylvania state correctional institutions don't accept money orders directly - everything goes through JPay. Follow JPay's instructions carefully. Missing paperwork or small errors can delay your deposit or get it rejected.

  • Include a deposit slip with every money order you mail to JPay.
  • Get the deposit slip in the prison visiting room or access it online (available in English and Spanish).

Deposit Limits Timing

  • Credit/debit card deposits: up to $300 per card every 72 hours - plan around the 72-hour window if you’re trying to send more than one deposit.
  • Money orders: up to $999.99 per money order - if you need to send more, you’ll have to use additional money orders.
  • Cash and walk-in transactions (MoneyGram): up to $5,000 per transaction - useful for larger one-time deposits.
  • No anonymous funding - the inmate’s account can’t be funded anonymously, so be ready to provide required sender information when you submit the deposit.
  1. Confirm the inmate’s details first - double-check the inmate’s name and ID number before you send anything, especially if you’re mailing a money order.
  2. Use official JPay channels - send online through the JPay website, or deposit by phone through JPay at 800-574-5729.
  3. If mailing a money order, include the deposit slip - money orders require a deposit slip, and you’ll want to keep your receipt or any tracking info until the funds post.
  4. Avoid sending money through “helpers” or unofficial pay methods - stick to JPay options (online, phone, money order, or kiosk) rather than sending money to another person, site, or account.
