What to Expect at SCI Waymart Check-In: Vehicle Rules, Searches, and No Waiting Area
SCI Waymart check-in is straightforward but strict. Prep your vehicle, expect searches, and plan around the "no waiting area" rule — that's how you avoid the most common problems at the gate.
Before Leave
- ✓ Lock your vehicle while you’re on prison property.
- ✓ Roll your windows up/closed.
- ✓ Secure any equipment on or in your vehicle (for example, ladders and toolboxes).
Once you arrive, assume your vehicle can be searched. Keep the car tidy and don't bring anything you wouldn't want questioned at the entrance.
Everyone in your group goes through screening - no exceptions. All visitors must pass through a metal detector, including children. Kids go through the same basic entry process as adults.
There's no waiting area at SCI Waymart. Don't bring anyone who can't visit and expect them to hang out on site - anyone not visiting must leave facility grounds. If someone is driving you, or you have a child or companion who won't be entering, arrange off-site drop-off or childcare ahead of time.
Reminder: Breaking visiting regulations can cost you your visiting privileges. Take check-in rules seriously - security issues at the gate can affect future visits.
- ✓ Arrive early so you have time for vehicle screening, searches, and the metal detector.
- ✓ Bring acceptable visitor ID (the DOC’s visiting procedures include form DC-315, “List of Acceptable Forms of Visitor Identification”).
- ✓ If you’re handling visitor approvals or special situations, know the DOC uses forms such as DC-313, DC-311A, DC-313A, and DC-312A.
- ✓ Do a quick vehicle check before you pull in: locked doors, windows up, and any equipment (like toolboxes or ladders) secured.
