What to Expect During Your Video Visit with Wayne Scott Unit Inmates: Cost, Length, and How to Schedule
Setting up a video visit with someone at the Wayne Scott Unit? There are two "video" options that sound similar but work differently. A Remote Video Visit (kiosk) is a live video session you schedule through the vendor's website - not through the in-person visitation desk. You might also see "Video/Tablet" listed in the TDCJ online visitation scheduler. That label trips people up. TDCJ specifically notes that "Video/Tablet" in their scheduler is not the same as the Securus Video program. If you want a Securus remote video visit, you'll need to schedule through Securus directly.
Important: "Video/Tablet" in the TDCJ scheduler isn't the same as Securus Video. Double-check you're using the right system before you schedule or pay.
Securus Video Visitation sessions last 60 minutes and cost $10.00 per visit. Sessions start and end at the scheduled times - no flexibility there.
There's also a frequency limit to keep in mind. Remote video visits are capped at once per month for up to 60 minutes per eligible inmate. This matters when you're picking a date. If you miss a scheduled session or accidentally book the wrong option, you probably won't be able to schedule another remote video visit until the following month.
Heads up: You only get one remote video visit per month. Don't purchase multiple sessions expecting them to go through.
