Which ID Your Child Needs to Visit Someone at Sedgwick County Jail

Accept IDs Adults

• ✓ Driver’s license (valid, government-issued photo ID)
• ✓ State ID card (valid, government-issued photo ID)
• ✓ Passport (valid, government-issued photo ID)
• ✓ Military ID (valid, government-issued photo ID)
• ✓ If you’re picking up a release of an inmate’s money or property in the jail lobby, bring a physical copy of an unexpired ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, or Military ID).

Every visit at Sedgwick County Jail is a video visit, so your ID verifies who you are before you connect. The facility is at 141 W Elm - if you're stopping by for anything related to your visit or handling business in the lobby, have your ID ready.

Kids 12 and older need their own ID to visit. The jail accepts either a school ID or a birth certificate.

1. Plan your visit at least a day ahead - Video visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
2. Register early if it’s your first remote visit - First-time remote visitation registration has to be approved by Detention staff, and that approval is only done Monday–Friday.

• ✓ No see-through clothing
• ✓ Keep things calm and respectful: if a visitor is disruptive or not properly dressed, visitation may be stopped or refused.

Each inmate gets one hour of free on-site visitation per week. If you're coordinating visits for your child and the adult who needs to accompany them, plan around that weekly limit so you don't waste a trip or miss your preferred slot.
