How to Schedule a Visit at Shasta County Jail: Understanding the 7-Day Rule and 30-Day Limit
Scheduling a visit at Shasta County Jail comes down to timing. Request too late (less than 7 days out) or too early (more than 30 days out), and your request won't be accepted.
Shasta County Jail has two timing rules you need to know upfront: your visitation request must be received at least 7 days before the date you want to visit, and requests more than 30 days in advance won't be accepted. Think of it as a scheduling window - your visit date needs to fall far enough out for staff to review it, but not so far that it's outside their booking limit.
Before picking a date, check which days are allowed for the specific housing unit you want to visit. Each unit has its own schedule, and the day you choose has to match. You'll find the current schedule and request process on the county's Inmate Visitation Request page.
- Count forward at least 7 days - Your request must be received 7 days prior to the requested visitation date, so don’t choose a date that’s less than a week away.
- Stay within 30 days - The jail is not accepting visitation requests greater than 30 days in advance, so don’t pick a date more than a month out.
- Re-check your date before you submit - If your requested date falls outside the 7-to-30-day window, the request won’t be accepted, even if everything else is correct.
Once you've found a date within the 7-day and 30-day limits, make sure your preferred time falls within visiting hours. Shasta County Jail offers visits from 7:30 to 11:30 am and 6:00 to 10:00 pm seven days a week, plus a 12:30 to 4:30 pm window on weekends. Your date and time need to work together: the day must be allowed for that housing unit, and the time should fit one of these windows. Stay flexible on timing. The jail assigns a 30-minute slot based on the housing unit's schedule and availability, so the exact time you get may differ from what you requested.
- ✓ My visit date falls on a permitted visitation day for the inmate’s housing unit.
- ✓ My preferred visit time fits within 7:30–11:30 am or 6:00–10:00 pm (any day), or 12:30–4:30 pm (weekends).
- ✓ I understand the jail will assign a 30-minute time slot appropriate to the housing unit if the request is approved.
After you've picked a date that matches the housing-unit schedule and falls within the 7-day/30-day window, submit your request through the county's visitation page. The jail will review it, and if approved, you'll get an email with your assigned 30-minute time slot.
