How to Apply for Visiting Approval at Skyline Correctional Center
Getting approved to visit someone at Skyline Correctional Center comes down to submitting the right form—filled out completely—with a copy of your ID. Here's how to apply and what happens next.
You'll need to complete the Colorado Department of Corrections Visitor Application, AR 300-01A. Once it's filled out and signed, send it to the facility where the person is housed - in this case, Skyline Correctional Center.
Send your visiting application and related correspondence to Skyline Correctional Center at this mailing address: P.O. Box 300, Canon City, CO 81215-0300.
ID-and-application-attachments
- ✓ A copy of your current, valid photo ID (required for adult applications)
- ✓ One adult name per Visitor Application (each adult must submit their own form)
Before mailing anything, double-check that your application is complete and signed. CDOC requires the Visitor Application AR 300-01A to be fully filled out - an unsigned or incomplete form will stall your approval before it even gets reviewed.
Note: Include the required photo ID copy with an adult application. Incomplete applications may be rejected.
Once you submit your application, CDOC runs a background check. This check happens annually from your initial application date, so approval isn't permanent - your status gets reviewed each year.
Your approval can lapse if you don't use it. Go a full year without visiting, and you'll be moved to inactive status in eOMIS. To visit again, you'll need to reapply and pass another background check.
Tip: Give yourself extra time for processing. Background checks are standard, and if you've been inactive for a year, you'll need to start the application process over.
The facility's Administrative Head has final say on approving, denying, or deactivating visitors. If your application gets denied or your status changes down the line, that decision comes from their office.
Heads up: Visiting approval can be revoked if information comes to light later that would have resulted in a denial at the time you applied.
