How to Apply for Visiting at The Beacon (Skyline Correctional Center)

Skyline Correctional Center has been redeveloped into single cells and reopened as The Beacon. It's a Level I facility focused on self-improvement and community programs. The visiting process is designed to support healthy connections, but you still need to clear the approval steps before seeing anyone.

Before scheduling any in-person or video visit, you need approval through the facility's visiting application process. The Beacon follows Colorado DOC's facility-specific rules, so pay close attention to Skyline's submission instructions. Where and how you submit matters as much as the form itself.

Step1 Docs

• ✓ A completed Visitor Application
• ✓ A copy of a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (the address on the ID must match the address you put on the application)
• ✓ If a minor will visit: list the child on the legal guardian’s or accompanying immediate family member’s application, and submit a copy of the child’s birth certificate or adoption/guardianship order
• ✓ If someone other than the parent or legal guardian will bring the minor: Form 300-01F (Authorization for Minor Child Visitation), submitted the way the facility’s instructions require

For Skyline (The Beacon), complete Visitor Application AR 300-01A, sign it, and return it to the facility where the incarcerated person is housed. Colorado DOC requires applications be submitted following the facility-specific instructions on Skyline's page, so follow those directions closely. Mail is a common submission method. Video visitation is available, but it's not a shortcut around the application. You still need approval and placement on the inmate's visiting list before scheduling video visits. Once approved, you can set up a video visiting account and schedule visits online through Securus, the department's inmate communications provider.

After you submit, your application goes through a background check. Active visitors have a background check run yearly to confirm there are no active warrants, detainers, or unresolved criminal cases. Go a full year without visiting? You'll be automatically deactivated and need to reapply. If you have an active felony or misdemeanor warrant, you won't be placed on the visiting list. That means no in-person, non-contact, or video visits. You may still be allowed on the inmate's phone list for calls.
