Visiting Someone at Skyline Correctional Center: What to Bring and Expect on Your First Visit

You'll need approval before you can visit. Complete the Visitor Application (AR 300-01A) and return the signed form to Skyline - that's what kicks off the approval process. Don't wait until the week you want to visit. Give yourself time for the paperwork to be received and reviewed.

  • Bring a current, valid government-issued photo ID (the same ID you used when you applied, and not expired).

Before you head out, confirm you have the incarcerated person’s details written exactly the way the facility has them (full name and any ID number you’ve been given). If you’re filling out forms, calling with a question, or checking in on-site, having the right information in front of you prevents delays and mix-ups.

Approved for a contact visit? You'll meet in a shared visiting area with staff present. Limited physical contact is allowed, but there are rules about where you can move and what's permitted. Think of it as a normal in-person visit with close supervision.

Non-contact visits work differently. At Skyline, this could mean visiting through a physical barrier on-site, or connecting by phone or video. There's no direct physical contact, and less flexibility overall - but you can still have your visit in whatever format the facility has approved.

Note: If you represent a potential health hazard (including a communicable disease), you won’t be approved for visits until the health issue is cured. DOC medical providers make the final decision on clearance.

Active warrants will block your visit. If you have a felony or misdemeanor warrant, you'll be denied in-person, non-contact, and video visitation. The one exception: you may still be added to the offender's phone list, so calls could still happen even if visits can't.

Bringing a child you're not the legal guardian of? You'll need written permission from the parent or guardian. Skyline requires AR Form 300-01F (Authorization for Minor Child Visitation) - get it completed before you show up with the child.

Arrival and Special Requests

  • Arrive early so you have time for check-in and any screening.
  • Have your photo ID ready to present.
  • Bring any paperwork you may need for your situation (for example, minor authorization forms if you’re bringing a child as a non-guardian adult).
  1. Decide if you need a special visit - Special visits are those approved outside normal visiting days or times (including extended visits).
  2. Start the request at least 10 calendar days ahead - Initiate the request at least ten calendar days before the date you’re hoping for, when possible.
  3. Make sure an application is on file - The proposed visitor must have a visiting application on file, or include the application with the special visit request.
  4. Wait for approval before making plans - Special visits must be approved in advance before they can happen.
