What to Bring (and What to Leave Behind) When Visiting Larry D. Smith
A smooth visit starts with packing light. Bring the one thing you absolutely need for check-in, and leave everything else in your car or at home so you don't get turned away at the door.
Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. Staff at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility will check it when you arrive, and there's no getting around this one. Keep your ID easy to reach so you're not fumbling at the front desk. Show up without acceptable ID, and your visit is over before it starts.
Prohibited Items
- ✓ Alcohol (not allowed in the visiting area)
- ✓ Illegal drugs (not allowed in the visiting area, and treated as illegal contraband)
- ✓ Weapons
- ✓ Tear gas or O.C. dispensers (pepper spray)
- ✓ Knives
- ✓ Cameras (leave cameras and other recording devices behind)
- ✓ Food
- ✓ Drinks (not allowed in the lobby or visiting areas)
Plan for security screening. Correctional staff at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility may search you and check your belongings. This is one more reason to bring as little as possible. Fewer items means a faster check-in and less chance you accidentally carry in something that ends your visit.
Heads up: All visitors are subject to warrant checks and can be arrested on site. Bringing illegal contraband into the visiting area is also grounds for arrest.
