What to Wear (and What Not to Wear) When Visiting Smith Correctional Facility
Dress code trips up more visitors than you'd expect at Smith Correctional Facility. Get it wrong, and you won't get through the door. Start with graphics and messaging. Nothing gang-related. Nothing sexual, lewd, or potentially offensive - skip shirts with provocative slogans or explicit images. If you'd hesitate to wear it in front of a mixed crowd, leave it at home. Coverage matters. Your outfit must cover your upper torso and lower/mid body. When in doubt, go more conservative - better to overdress than lose your visit. Length catches people off guard. Dresses, skirts, pants, and shorts can't be more than two inches above the knee. That includes slits when you're standing. If a skirt rides up when you walk or a slit opens higher than that two-inch mark, it's a problem. Not sure? Swap to longer bottoms before you leave.
