Visiting at Smith County Jail takes a little planning, but the process is straightforward once you know the schedule. Onsite visitation runs from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Sign up the day of your visit at the Low-Risk Facility between 12:30 PM and 4:30 PM. Visiting days are split by gender: men can visit on Monday and Saturday, women on Tuesday and Sunday. Each visit lasts 20 minutes. Trustee visitation is held separately in the evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with sign-up between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM. The dress code is strictly enforced. Tennessee also requires visitors to complete the Visitor Application (CR-2152) and be approved before visiting.

Smith County Jail uses two vendors for inmate communication. Jail ATM handles video and email call services, plus commissary account deposits. NCIC provides the jail's telephone service. To make sure your loved one can call you, set up your account through the vendor portal or kiosk, add funds, and add any approved phone numbers ahead of time. You can add telephone funds through NCIC or through Jail ATM if you need to load money quickly. Like most Tennessee facilities, the jail doesn't accept inbound calls from the public. Calls are outbound from the inmate and may be monitored or recorded.

Smith County Jail uses JailATM for adding money to commissary accounts. The system may also support email and video-call services. Depending on what the jail enables, you can fund an account through an in-person kiosk, online portal or app, automated phone system, or approved mail and trust payment methods. Most electronic deposits run through third-party processors, with convenience or processing fees shown during checkout. When depositing, search using the person's full name plus their facility ID number or birthdate, then save your receipt. Funds may post immediately or take one to two business days.
