How to Sign Up for a Visit at Smith County Jail: Where and When to Register

At Smith County Jail, visitation sign-up is done in person at the Low-Risk Facility. You cannot show up and assume you will be added automatically once visiting starts. Plan to register the same day you want to visit. The sign-up window is 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and you will need to get there during that timeframe to be placed on the list.

For general visitation, sign-up runs from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Visitation itself is held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, so the sign-up window overlaps with visiting hours. That overlap is helpful, but it can also trip people up. Arrive late in the afternoon, and you might still be within visiting hours but miss the cut-off to register. If you can, get to the Low-Risk Facility earlier in the sign-up window so you have time to check in and wait your turn.

Trustee visits follow a different, evening schedule. Trustee visitation hours are 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. You still need to sign up the same day. Trustee sign-up runs from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, so plan to arrive early enough to get registered before the night is over.
