How to Add an Inmate to Your TDCJ Visitation Profile and What Happens While Your Request Is Pending
Adding someone to your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler profile takes two steps: enter the correct ID number, then wait for TDCJ to verify your relationship. Here's how to do both and how to check your request status.
To add an inmate in the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler, search using their TDCJ number or SID number. The number must be exactly 8 digits. Don't know it? Use the TDCJ Offender Search on the TDCJ website to look it up first, then return to the scheduler and enter that 8-digit number.
Once the search pulls up the right person, select your relationship from the "The Inmate is My" dropdown. Click "Request Approval" and confirm. Your Relationship Request goes to the inmate's unit of assignment, where staff will verify the connection between you and the inmate.
You can track your Relationship Request from your visitor home page. While it's under review, it stays listed under "Relation Requests Pending Approval." Once TDCJ confirms the relationship, it moves to "Verified Inmate Relations." That's your signal the request has been approved.
Sometimes the scheduler won't show a usable "Schedule Visit" button next to the inmate's name. If the button is blank or replaced with "Call Unit," you'll need to call the inmate's unit of assignment to arrange the visit.
Tip: When you call the unit, say: “Hi, I’m trying to schedule a visit. The online scheduler shows ‘Call Unit’ (or the Schedule Visit button is blank). Can you tell me how to set up the visit and what information you need from me?”
Quick Tips Wait
- ✓ Double-check that you entered an 8-digit TDCJ or SID number before you submit the request.
- ✓ Watch your visitor home page for updates in “Relation Requests Pending Approval.”
- ✓ Once it’s approved, look for the relationship to move to “Verified Inmate Relations.”
