How to Set Up a TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account (Step-by-Step)
Before you can schedule a visit, you need to create a TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account. The process is simple, but a few small details (like email and phone formatting) trip people up.
To use the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler, you must create your own visitor account. TDCJ staff cannot do this for you. Once your account exists, staff can help with certain updates, like correcting your name or address. But you have to complete the initial signup yourself before anything else can happen.
- Click “Create an Account” and enter a valid email. This email will be used for your scheduler account.
- Submit your email and check your inbox. The system sends you an email with a 7-digit validation code and a link.
- Use the validation email to continue registration. Open the email and follow the link, then use the 7-digit code when prompted so you can complete setup.
Tip: Pick an email you can keep long-term. In the scheduler, the email tied to an account cannot be changed later.
After email validation and setting a password, you'll reach the Background Questionnaire. Every question must be answered before the system lets you continue. When you submit, look for an "Update Complete" message. Stuck on this page? Go back and check for any question you accidentally skipped.
Next, you'll complete your Visitor Profile. If you see red text saying your profile is incomplete, click "Edit my Profile" and fill in any required fields marked with an asterisk. Watch the phone number field closely. TDCJ requires the format XXX XXX XXXX with spaces, not dashes (for example: 210 555 0123).
- Go to the Login page. Use the scheduler login screen.
- Enter your account email. Type the same email you used to create the account.
- Click “Forgot Password/Reset Password”. The scheduler will send an email with steps to reset your password.
- Follow the reset email instructions. Complete the steps in that email to set a new password and sign back in.
Warning: Email addresses are permanent in the TDCJ scheduler. Once an account is created for an email address, that account cannot be deleted and the email address cannot be changed.
