How to Visit Facility

Visiting at a TDCJ facility is straightforward once you know two things: how long visits actually last, and how to get back into the online scheduler if you're locked out.

Each visit lasts two hours. The clock starts when both you and the inmate are present and checked in, so arrive early to get the most time together.

Steps to Follow

  • Make sure you can access your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account. If you’re locked out, use the Forgot Password/Reset Password link and enter your email so the reset instructions can be emailed to you.
  • Plan around the two-hour visit window. A regular visiting period is two hours and it begins when the inmate and the visitor(s) are present, not when you pull into the parking lot.

When resetting your password, make sure you're entering the correct email for your scheduler account. If the reset email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.

Before you go, confirm any local check-in procedures that might affect your start time. Since the two-hour clock begins only when both you and the inmate are present, small delays at check-in can cut into your visit.
