What to Bring (and Leave Behind) When You Visit the Snohomish County Jail Lobby
Lobby visits go smoothly when you show up with the right ID and leave the extra stuff behind. Use this checklist so you don't get turned away at the Snohomish County Jail video kiosks.
Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. Staff check it before letting you visit. A driver's license, passport, or military ID all work - just make sure it hasn't expired.
Know your group size before you arrive. Only two people total - adults or children - can fit in a visiting kiosk at once. If more family members come along, you'll need to take turns.
Leave pets at home. No pets are allowed inside the building, but service animals that are specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome.
Note: If you appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you won’t be allowed to visit.
Prohibited Items
- ✓ Purses, packages, and similar personal items
- ✓ Food or drinks
- ✓ Weapons (including guns or knives)
Figure out what to do with your belongings before you walk in. Reception staff won't hold personal property, and they're not responsible for anything lost or stolen - even items you put in a locker.
- Stash anything not allowed - Leave purses/packages and any food or drink behind before you enter the visiting area.
- Get your photo ID out - You’ll need a valid picture ID before you’ll be allowed to visit.
- Approach with only two people - Only two adults and/or children can be in a visiting kiosk at one time.
- Don’t expect staff to pass messages - Reception and detention staff will not take written or verbal messages to inmates.
Planning to drop off a note or documents? That won't work here. The front desk doesn't accept mail for inmates - everything must go through the U.S. Postal Service or another carrier like UPS or FedEx. Staff also won't deliver written or verbal messages to inmates.
Reminder: Stay sober, leave weapons out of the facility, and keep your belongings close. Staff aren't responsible for lost or stolen property - even if you use a locker.
