What to Expect When You Post Bail at Snohomish County Jail (Payment Methods, Fees, and Release Timing)

To post bail in person, head to the Inmate Account window at the main jail facility: 3025 Oakes Avenue in Everett. This is where most families go when they want to pay directly rather than using a bondsman or paying online.

  • Cash
  • Cashier’s check
  • Money order
  • Bond from a bail bond company
  • Personal checks are not accepted
  1. Choose online or phone payment through GovPayNet - Cash bail can be paid 24/7 using major credit, debit, or prepaid debit cards.
  2. Call the automated line if you’re paying by phone - Use 1-877-EZBAIL5.
  3. Plan for the service fee - Cardholders pay a service fee of 7% of the bail total at the time of the transaction.

Going through a bail bond company? Expect to pay a fee of 8–15% of the total bail amount. That's the bondsman's cut for writing the bond, and you won't get it back. One thing to know: Snohomish County Corrections doesn't refer families to specific bonding companies, so you'll need to find one yourself.

Don't expect an immediate release once bail is posted. At Snohomish County Jail, it can take up to six hours for someone to walk out. The actual wait depends on the day, time, and how many other releases the jail is already processing.

Scam warning: The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office will never call asking for money on behalf of an inmate. If someone calls demanding bail payment, it's a scam - hang up and protect your information.
