How to Register for Visits at South Carolina DOC: Online vs. Paper Applications
SCDC offers online visitor registration for some adults, but paper applications are still required in several common situations. Here's how to figure out which path applies to you—and what to do next.
Starting June 1, 2025, adults 18 and older with a valid South Carolina driver's license can register online. If that's you, online registration is the fastest route.
Head to SCDC's family/visitation pages and look for the SCDC/GTL scheduling and registration option. Create your account, follow the prompts, and have your basic info handy so you can finish in one sitting.
Registering a minor child? You'll need the paper application. SCDC requires the form plus documentation that verifies the relationship between the child and the inmate.
- ✓ You’re an adult who does not have an ID or driver’s license (for example, you use a passport or U.S. visa).
- ✓ You’re an adult with an out-of-state driver’s license.
- ✓ You don’t have computer access or you’re having technical difficulties using a computer.
For paper applications, the process starts when the inmate sends you SCDC Form 19-127 (
Mail paper visitation applications to: Division of Visitation and I/M DT, P.O. Box 212969, Columbia, S.C., 29221-2969.
Only inmates can provide the application form. If you need additional copies of Form 19-127 later, request them from the inmate you want to visit, then mail the completed form to the Division of Visitation and Inmate Drug Testing at the P.O. Box address above.
Online or paper, the goal is the same: get on the inmate's approved visitation list. Once approved, you'll schedule visits through the SCDC/GTL scheduler - register on their website first, then log in to book your visit.
Once you're on the approved list, virtual visits are an option too. Set up an account at scdoc.gtlvisitme.com/app to get started.
