The fastest option for most people? Secure Deposits through Access Corrections. You can do it online or through the Access Corrections mobile app - whenever works for you.

  1. Create your Access Corrections account (or open the app) - Choose the online option or use the Access Corrections mobile app.
  2. Enter the inmate’s information - Have the inmate’s commitment number ready so you can match the deposit to the right person.
  3. Choose how you’ll pay and submit the deposit - Secure Deposits accepts credit/debit card payments through Access Corrections.

If you’d rather handle it by phone, you can make a deposit through Access Corrections customer service at 1-866-345-1884. Bilingual representatives are available 24/7, and the call goes much faster if you have the inmate’s commitment number in front of you.

Some facilities have a lobby drop box labeled

Prefer to mail a money order or check? Secure Deposits has a lockbox option. Send your deposit to: Secure Deposits - Massachusetts DOC, PO Box 12486, St. Louis, MO 63132.

Mailed checks and money orders are processed within 48 hours of receipt, excluding weekends and holidays. A deposit arriving late in the week may take longer to post.

Heads up about holds: Check funds have an extra delay - after the transaction is processed, all check funds are subject to a 10-day hold before the DOC credits the inmate’s account. If you drop off a deposit at the facility, money orders over $200 and all personal checks are placed on a 7 business day hold.

Tips Verification

  • Call the institution first to confirm whether South Middlesex accepts check/money-order drop-offs in a lobby “Inmate Funds” box.
  • If you need help completing a deposit, call Access Corrections at 1-866-345-1884 (bilingual reps are available 24/7).
  • Keep the inmate’s commitment number handy before you start (online/app or phone).
  • When sending or dropping off a check or money order, include the inmate’s commitment number so it’s credited correctly.
