Sending Money to an Inmate at Southern Desert: A Complete Guide

NDOC offers three ways to send money to an offender at Southern Desert. You can mail a cashier's check or money order with a Lockbox Deposit Coupon, make an online deposit through Access Corrections using a Visa or MasterCard, or call Access Corrections to pay by phone. Pick whichever method works best for you.

Going the Lockbox route? You'll need the correct NDOC Lockbox Deposit Coupon - it's not optional. You can print one from the NDOC website, or your loved one can send you one directly. If you can't print it yourself and don't have a coupon handy, ask the offender to mail you a copy.

Expect a delay when sending a money order or cashier's check through NDOC. Due to increased counterfeit activity, NDOC holds all such funds for fourteen calendar days after receipt. So even if your payment has arrived, your loved one won't see the money right away.

Watch out for requests claiming money is needed for "restitution schedules" or release-related fees. NDOC does not have specified schedules for restitution payments, and it does not require payment of any fees for any type of release. If something doesn't match official NDOC policy, treat it as a red flag. Slow down and verify before sending anything.

Warning: NDOC says it assumes no responsibility for any statement made by an offender who is requesting that funds be sent to them. If a request feels urgent or doesn’t add up, pause and verify what you can before sending money.

Stuck on something - like printing a coupon or understanding how NDOC facilities work? The NDOC Family Services Division is a good place to start. They help family members with general questions about facility operations. One caveat: they can't verify anyone's information over phone or email, so expect general guidance rather than specifics about a particular person.
