What Not to Wear for a Video Visit at Southwest Regional Jail (Abingdon)

Skip anything sheer or see-through. The jail prohibits clothing made of sheer, transparent, net, or mesh materials - even if you're wearing something underneath.

Cover up. Clothing that exposes your stomach, back, shoulders, chest, midriff, or underarms is prohibited during video visits.

Avoid tight, body-hugging clothes - even if they're comfortable at home. The jail bans clothing designed to accent the body, including spandex leggings, tank tops, and bodysuits.

Wearing a dress or skirt? Watch the length. Anything more than four inches above the knee isn't allowed - that includes dresses, skirts, jumpers, and culottes.

Leave the shorts at home. They're prohibited for video visits, though minor children get an exception.

Keep your head uncovered. Hats and headgear aren't allowed unless they're religiously recognized and approved.

Keep it plain. Clothing with gang-related content, obscene images, or distracting messages and designs is prohibited.

Don't wear anything that could be mistaken for official attire. Clothing resembling security uniforms or inmate clothing is prohibited.

Once your session starts, stay seated. The jail requires both visitors and inmates to remain seated throughout the entire video visit.
