Before Your First Visit to Spartanburg County Jail: What to Bring and What to Leave Behind

Every adult visitor needs a picture ID. At Spartanburg County Detention, you'll present identification at check-in - a driver's license or state ID works. Show up without it, and you won't get in.

Make sure you're registered and approved through Securus before you go. Spartanburg County Detention uses video visitation, and all scheduling runs through Securus. Don't try to tag along on someone else's appointment. If you're in the visitation area during a scheduled visit and you're not registered as an approved visitor, you'll be removed - and the approved visitor could lose their visitation privileges entirely.

Get there early. The facility asks visitors to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled visit to check in at the electronic kiosk in the lobby. Cut it close, and you risk losing the whole visit.

Heads up: Show up late and you may not be able to check in - but the visit can still count against the inmate's two weekly visits.

Having trouble booking a visit? The facility also offers a NetVisitScheduler login option. For scheduling issues or access problems, call Lattice Customer Care at (904) 497-4707.

You'll go through screening when you enter - a metal detector, possibly a pat-down, or both. The fastest way through? Bring only what you need and leave everything else in your car.

  • Metal objects (including keys)
  • Knives
  • Nail files
  • Any other object that can readily be used as a weapon
  • Chewing gum
  • Chewing tobacco
  • Snuff

Planning to drop off belongings for the inmate? You won't be able to. The only thing visitors can leave is money, deposited at the kiosk in the public lobby during your scheduled visit.

There's one narrow exception: clothing exchanges. With prior approval, an inmate can swap their clothes for a clean set you bring - as long as the clothing hasn't been seized as evidence. Timing matters too: no exchange happens sooner than 48 hours after the inmate entered the jail.

Got last-minute questions about phone services, mail rules, or visitation? Call the detention center at (864) 596-3424.

For scheduling help, use the same channels the jail recommends: Securus for video visitation booking, or Lattice Customer Care at (904) 497-4707 for troubleshooting.
