How to Address Mail to Someone at St. Anthony Work Camp

Use the facility-specific mailing address listed on the St. Anthony Work Camp facility page. Don't use the statewide Boise P.O. Box format you might see for other IDOC locations - SAWC has its own address. When in doubt, copy it exactly as shown so your mail routes correctly.

  • Resident’s last name and IDOC number
  • Facility name (St. Anthony Work Camp) and the resident’s unit number (if applicable)
  • The SAWC mailing address exactly as listed on the St. Anthony Work Camp facility page (this is facility-specific)
  • City, state, and ZIP exactly as shown on that same facility page

SAWC residents can receive personal letters from family and friends, but packages aren't allowed. If you want to send something beyond paper mail, you'll need to find another method - packages from home won't make it through processing.

Photos are allowed, but keep them simple. Polaroids aren’t permitted, and photos that show nudity are prohibited. If you’re sending pictures for the first time, stick to standard printed photos and avoid anything that could be interpreted as explicit.

Books and magazines have their own rules. You can't mail publications directly as an individual sender - they must come straight from the publisher or an IDOC-approved vendor, with a receipt or invoice included. Amazon isn't an approved vendor, so even though it seems like the easiest option, shipments from there get rejected.

Every piece of personal mail gets screened. Letters are opened and searched for contraband before delivery - that's standard procedure. This is why keeping your mail straightforward and rule-compliant matters.

Note: If your letter includes unacceptable items, those items can be returned to you or turned over to the proper authorities.

How to Address Mail to Someone at St. Anthony Work Camp
  1. Re-check the SAWC mailing address - Use the facility-specific address shown on the St. Anthony Work Camp facility page and copy it exactly.
  2. Double-check publication rules (if you sent books or magazines) - Publications must come from the publisher or an IDOC-approved vendor and include a receipt or invoice.
  3. Contact the facility for clarification - If your mail keeps coming back or you’re not sure what was rejected, call or email SAWC and ask what needs to change.

No reply doesn't always mean your loved one is ignoring you. Mail with unacceptable items may be returned to the sender or turned over to authorities, which can interrupt delivery.
