What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) When Visiting St. Brides Correctional Center

Bring at least one valid photo ID to St. Brides Correctional Center. Make sure it matches the information on your visitation application exactly - if the name or details don't line up, you can be turned away at check-in, even if you're already on the visitor list.

  • Driver’s license
  • Passport (only for those who do not reside in the United States)
  • Military ID
  • Other official picture ID issued by a federal or state agency

Arrive one hour before your scheduled visit. That buffer gives you time to clear security without rushing, and it protects your visit if lines are long or check-in takes longer than expected.

Reminder: Don’t bring food or drinks - none are allowed inside, and you won’t have access to vending machines during your visit.

Travel light. Leave non-essentials at home or locked in your car, and dress simply and conservatively so you don't get held up at the door. Not sure if something's allowed? Call the facility ahead of time for the current prohibited-items list and dress code.

If you have a mobility impairment or another disability, call St. Brides Correctional Center before your visit. Arranging accommodations ahead of time prevents day-of surprises and makes check-in smoother.

Service or guide animals may be allowed in the visitation area with prior approval. Submit a request before your visit - don't try to sort it out at the entrance.

  1. Reach out before your visit - If you’re pregnant or have a medical condition that keeps you from using the electronic scanning device, contact the facility ahead of time so staff know you’ll need an alternate screening option.
  2. Bring medical documentation - Bring documentation from your medical provider confirming you cannot go through the electronic scanner due to your condition.
  3. Plan for an alternate search - When the documentation supports it, an alternate search procedure will be offered.
  1. Get a doctor’s note - You’ll need documentation stating the medication must be maintained on your person.
  2. Request approval ahead of time - At least one week before your scheduled visit, contact the Facility Unit Head (or designee) to get approval to enter the facility with medication.
