What You Can (and Can't) Bring When Visiting Stanislaus County Detention Facilities

Some items aren't just prohibited - bringing them into a Stanislaus County detention facility is a crime. Firearms, explosives, alcoholic beverages, narcotics, and controlled substances can all lead to arrest. If anything in your car, pockets, or bag could fall into one of those categories, leave it off facility grounds entirely.
Expect screening when you arrive. Staff may search you, your vehicle, or your belongings. The easiest way to speed through check-in? Leave nonessential items at home. Keep your pockets empty and your car simple so you're not sorting through prohibited items at the entrance.
Tip: Keys, wallets, and bags aren't allowed in visiting or secure perimeter areas. Bring only what you absolutely need and lock the rest in your car. Visiting with a baby? Strollers, car seats, and diaper bags are banned too - plan accordingly.
The dress code is enforced, and staff are strict about it. No short shorts or short dresses. No spaghetti straps. Your shirt needs to fully cover your stomach - any visible midriff can get you turned away.

Bringing a baby or small child? Pack lighter than usual. Strollers, car seats, and diaper bags are banned from visiting and secure perimeter areas. Figure out what you can leave in the car and what you can carry in your hands - you don't want to be stuck at check-in with prohibited gear.
