Bringing Children to Visit at Stanley CI: Who Must Be Listed, Visitor Limits, and Supervision Rules
Bringing kids to a prison visit takes extra planning, especially when approved lists and supervision rules are involved. Here are the Stanley Correctional Institution (Stanley CI) basics that trip families up most often.
Every person who visits Stanley CI must be on the incarcerated person's (PIOC's) approved visiting list. That includes minors. Children can't just "come along" unless they've been specifically approved.
Plan your group size before you go. Stanley CI allows a maximum of six visitors per in-person visit, and that count includes both adults and children. Video visits have the same six-person cap, so headcount planning matters even when you're visiting remotely.
The baseline requirement for minors is the same as for adults: they must be on the PIOC's approved visiting list. For video visits, visitors under 18 also need to be listed as an additional visitor for that session. Make sure they're included when the visit is set up.
Supervision rule: Minors must be accompanied and supervised by an authorized adult visitor during video visits. Any time a child is participating, treat supervision as a requirement.
- ✓ Confirm the child is on the PIOC-approved visiting list before you plan the trip or schedule the call
- ✓ For video visits, list anyone under 18 as an additional visitor (do not assume they are automatically included)
- ✓ Make sure an authorized adult visitor will accompany and actively supervise the minor during the video visit
Bringing an older teen? Plan for ID. All visitors age 16 or older at Stanley CI must show photo identification, so a 16- or 17-year-old will need acceptable photo ID to get in.
