Dress Code and ID Rules for Visiting Someone at Suwannee Work Camp
Visiting Suwannee Work Camp goes smoother when you show up with the right ID and clothing. These rules most often decide whether you get into the visiting area.
Anyone 16 or older needs a valid photo ID to enter the visiting area. Staff check identification at the entrance - no acceptable ID, no visit. This applies even if you're already on the approved visitor list.
Reminder: The DC6-111A visitor form tells you to read the attached policies before visiting. Do this before you leave home so there are no surprises at the door.
You must wear a shirt. Show up without one, and you'll be turned away before reaching the visiting room.
- ✓ Wear shoes (they’re mandatory).
- ✓ Don’t wear Heelys.
- ✓ Don’t wear footwear with removable parts.
Dresses, skirts, and Bermuda-length shorts can't be more than three inches above the knee. If you're unsure whether something runs too short, pick a longer option. Don't lose your visit over a measurement at check-in.
If staff stop you at the entrance over your outfit or belongings, follow their directions. Being on department grounds means you're subject to their rules and procedures as a condition of visiting.
- Re-read the visitor policies - The DC6-111A form specifically tells visitors to carefully read the attached policies before visiting.
- Double-check your ID before you try again - If you’re 16 or older, you need a valid photo ID to enter the visiting area.
- Follow staff directions and adjust what you can - If the issue is clothing or another rule, comply with instructions and return with an outfit and items that meet the requirements.
