Tarrant County Jail Visiting Schedule by Last Name: Which Days You Can Visit
Tarrant County Jail assigns general visitation days based on the inmate's last name. Figure out whether their last name falls in A–L or M–Z, and you'll know exactly which days—and on Fridays, which time slot—you can visit.
The jail divides inmates into two groups: last names A–L and last names M–Z. Here's how it breaks down: If the inmate's last name starts with A–L, you can visit on Saturdays and Mondays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., plus Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If the last name starts with M–Z, visits happen on Sundays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., plus Fridays from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday is the split day - A–L visits earlier in the day, M–Z visits later. Double-check which group applies before making the trip.
On most assigned days, visiting runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. That's Monday and Saturday for A–L, Sunday and Tuesday for M–Z. The long window helps if you're working around jobs, school, or childcare - but don't cut it too close. The facility has a processing cutoff (more on that below), and arriving late can mean getting turned away even though hours technically run until 9 p.m.
Friday works differently. A–L inmates have visitation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. M–Z inmates have visitation from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Show up during the wrong time block and you'll likely be turned away. Treat Friday as two completely separate schedules.
- ✓ Visitor sign-up begins 30 minutes before visiting hours start.
- ✓ On Fridays (A–L schedule), visitors will not be processed after 2:30 p.m.
- ✓ For 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. visiting periods, visitors will not be processed after 8:30 p.m.
The schedule above applies to general visitation only. Attorney visits and other special circumstances often follow different rules and aren't tied to the A–L / M–Z split. If you need to arrange something outside regular visitation, call the jail first to confirm the process - it'll save you a wasted trip.
Start by checking the inmate's last name: A–L or M–Z? Match it to the right days (A–L: Saturday and Monday 9 a.m.–9 p.m., plus Friday 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; M–Z: Sunday and Tuesday 9 a.m.–9 p.m., plus Friday 3 p.m.–9 p.m.). Then plan your arrival around processing rules: sign-up opens 30 minutes before visiting starts, and for 9 a.m.–9 p.m. periods, you won't be processed after 8:30 p.m. On Fridays for A–L, the cutoff is 2:30 p.m. If anything seems unclear, call the facility before you leave. Getting the day right is only half the battle - the cutoff times matter just as much.
