Video visitation at Taylor County Jail is completely free. No per-minute fees, no hidden charges. You just show up and visit your loved one on screen.

Local (in-town) visitors get two 30-minute video visits per week per inmate. That weekly allotment is the main limit to plan around.

Video visits run on set daily windows. Monday through Friday, visits are available from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (last visit begins at 7:30 p.m.). Saturday hours are 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (last visit begins at 12:30 p.m.). Sunday hours are 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (last visit begins at 7:30 p.m.).

Taylor County Jail uses a distance rule to determine out-of-town status. You must live at least 150 miles outside the Abilene city limits to qualify.

If you qualify as out-of-town, you get more time. Each inmate is allowed two 1-hour visits per week under the out-of-town allotment.

Note: Out-of-town video visits follow the same daily visitation windows and "last visit begins" cutoff times as in-town visits.

What to Bring Proof of Out of Town

  • A valid ID
  • A current utility bill showing an out-of-town address

Bring both items with you when you go. The utility bill needs to be current and show the out-of-town address clearly, since that’s how you prove you meet the 150-mile requirement.

Before your first visit, complete the one-time visitor registration at JailATM.com. Get this done ahead of time. Showing up without being in the system means a wasted trip.

Note: Online visitation is also available through JailATM seven days a week at no charge. There's no limit on how often or how long you can use it within the stated online hours.

Practical Tips and Pitfalls

  • Register at JailATM.com before you go (it’s a one-time registration)
  • Bring a valid ID
  • If you’re claiming out-of-town status, bring a current utility bill that shows your out-of-town address

Try to visit earlier in the daily window so you're not cutting it close to the "last visit begins" cutoff. And make sure your JailATM registration is already complete before you go. It makes the whole process smoother.

Heads up: Visits can be delayed or canceled for a number of reasons, including court, work assignments, disciplinary action, sick call, attorney visits, or housing re-assignments.
