Set Up a TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account: Step-by-Step

Setting up the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler for the first time? A few small details can save you a lot of frustration. Here's how to create your account, validate it, and get approved to visit.

Start by choosing an email address you control and plan to keep. Once an account is created in the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler, it cannot be deleted and the email address cannot be changed. Have a working phone number ready for your visitor profile. It also helps to have the incarcerated person's TDCJ/SID number on hand so you can find the right record quickly when adding them to your profile.

  • An email address you control and will keep (it cannot be changed later)
  • Access to that email inbox so you can open the validation message
  • A working phone number you can enter into your profile
  • The inmate’s TDCJ/SID number (if you have it)

Account creation starts with your email. After you submit it, the system sends a 7-digit validation code and a link to finish registration. Double-check that you typed the address correctly and that you'll be able to access it long-term. This matters because the email becomes permanent on the account (it cannot be changed, and the account cannot be deleted).

  1. Submit your email address - Use the Create an Account option and enter a valid email.
  2. Open the validation email - Look for the message that includes a 7-digit validation code and a registration link.
  3. Complete registration with the code - Follow the link and enter the 7-digit validation code to finish setting up your account.

Note: Choose your email carefully. Once the scheduler account is created, it cannot be deleted and the email address cannot be changed.

When filling out your Visitor Profile, enter your telephone number using spaces, not dashes. The scheduler requires the format XXX XXX XXXX (for example, 210 555 0123). Dashes can cause the system to reject the number.

Once your account is set up, add the inmate to your profile and submit a Relationship Request. This request goes to the inmate's unit of assignment, where TDCJ staff verify the visitor and inmate relationship. Verification must be completed before you can schedule any visits.

Note: If your Relationship Request shows as pending, it usually means the unit has not completed verification yet. You will not be able to schedule a visit until that approval is done.

Sometimes you won't see a Schedule Visit option, even after starting the relationship process. The scheduler may direct you to "Call Unit" instead, meaning the unit needs to handle the next step. Whether you're scheduling online or calling, contact the unit for final confirmation before you travel. This helps you avoid showing up when the schedule has changed or visitation isn't available.

  • Confirm the inmate is assigned to that unit and has visitation privileges
  • Confirm the unit visitation schedule for the day you plan to go
  • Ask if visitation has been canceled for any reason
  • Verify what time you should arrive and whether there are any special instructions before you travel
